Computer Advice

Many thanks to the Essex IAG Partnership for the 'What Next?' project money. This is enabling us to provide some students with individual advice sessions. We hope this will continue in the future. For more information click here.

We'd like to build up a good range of websites that might be useful or interesting to WEA students and their friends. They could be sites connected with further learning, such as www.learndirect.co.uk or www.learninglink.org.uk

There is a useful site for women returning to work at www.women-returners.co.uk.

Go to www.bbc.co.uk/webwise/learn for the excellent online course BBC Becoming Webwise that will help to make you a confident internet user.

Go to www.bbc.co.uk/health for advice on general health issues or www.bbc.co.uk/health/first_aid_action for the BBC's new online first aid course. There is also a page to help you improve your confidence at www.bbc.co.uk/health/confidence.

They could be sites that offer help with personal circumstances like www.womensaid.org.uk or moving on to other directions via www.princes-trust.org.uk. This could be a big page!!

The WEA produces a pack of information every year to help people move on in their learning. To view a selection of this information, click here.

Writtle College has recently launched a jobs and careers website at www.growing-careers.com. This is designed to give young people and career-changers an overview of the land-based sector and has over 30 live vacancies on the site at any one time.

The following areas are covered: working with animals; conserving the environment; designing & maintaining gardens and parks; managing plant nurseries & garden centres; supplying salad crops to the major supermarkets; managing livestock & arable farms; testing & developing large vehicles/machines; working in leisure/sport.

Worktrain - the new national site for jobs and training is now open access. To visit the site, click here

Click here for information on a number of sites concerned with children's health and education.
